Personal profile

Dr Meisam Abdi is a Senior Lecturer in Design for Additive Manufacturing. His research interest includes development and application of design and optimization strategies suitable for designing parts fabricated through additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes. His research expertise lies in the following areas:

  • Topology optimization
  • 3D printed lattice structures
  • Design for selective laser melting (SLM)
  • Numerical modelling and simulation through FEM, XFEM, meshfree methods

Dr Abdi received his PhD from University of Nottingham in 2015. Before joining Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ in 2017, Dr Abdi was a post-doctoral research fellow in the Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) at the University of Nottingham.

He worked on an Innovate UK funded project in partnership with Rolls-Royce called “Advanced Laser-additive layer Manufacture for Emissions Reduction (ALMER)”.
