Efforts to highlight local job opportunities to students have helped Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ Leicester’s (Æß²ÊÖ±²¥) careers team win another award.

The university picked up the Employability Index award for Innovation at the annual Abintegro Academic conference.

Abintegro’s Employability Index is a type of software which analyses the use of interactive career and employability activities from thousands of students across over 100 qualifying institutions.

 Many universities, like Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ use the technology company, Abintegro as a tool to support student employability via multiple online activities, to help boost their future career prospects.

 Among the e-learning tools, as well as learning a variety of valuable career-based skills, students are offered career resources including an Artificial Intelligence CV review scanner, to help students and graduates optimise their CVs for job applications.

But it is the way the university uses the software to find local employment opportunities for students which has led to this latest award win.

Tony Heard, Managing Director at Abintegro, said: “Winning the Abintegro Employability Index Innovation award is a testament to the creativity and commitment shown by the Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ team in using the Career Centre platform to offer highly relevant and impactful employability support to your students.

Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ configured the Abintegro platform in 2016 to support students with their employability skill development, however more recently the Æß²ÊÖ±²¥works team have used the platform to help address students’ lack of awareness of the variety of jobs on their doorstep in Leicestershire.

In the last 12 months, over 60,000 activities have been completed by Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ students to prepare them for success when applying for jobs in Leicestershire.

Phil Curtis, Careers Digital and Data Strategy Manager at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ said: “I am delighted that Æß²ÊÖ±²¥works has been awarded the Abintegro Employability Index Award for Innovation.

“The last 12-18 months have presented both our team and our students with significant challenges, and so I am particularly proud that we have been recognised for our innovation and finding creative ways to highlight local opportunities to our students.

“We value our partnership with Abintegro hugely, and together we have been able to produce a platform that is having a real impact on the employability of our students and graduates. I very much look forward to developing the partnership further in the coming months and years.”
