Mentors from major law firms will offer Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ Leicester (Æß²ÊÖ±²¥) students tailored advice in a new partnership.
The university has agreed to work with GROW, a legal mentoring initiative which pairs students with a diverse range of law professionals from multiple law firms, chambers and in-house teams across the UK and the US.
Students will be offered tailored advice through a professional mentor via monthly scheduled video and phone calls and frequent emails, with personal catch-ups planned for the near future.
It is intended that the scheme will offer students at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ a guaranteed number of spaces every year, helping to increase diversity and inclusion in the legal industry.
Brett Koenig, senior lecturer in law at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥, said the partnership offered students opportunities to get their first break in the profession.
He said: “The work GROW has done to support students by breaking down barriers when entering the legal profession is admirable. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity to allow our diverse, talented students to receive tailored advice from world-class professionals.
The key to this partnership is encouraging social mobility, diversity and inclusivity in the legal profession. I am very excited to see how our students progress with their careers and look forward to working together with GROW.”
