He said: “I am pleased to join Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ at this event to celebrate their Gold award.
“The Teaching Excellence Framework is refocusing the sector’s attention on teaching to raise standards and give it the same status as research. Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ are one of 59 providers across the country that demonstrated their teaching is of the highest quality.
“The results will help students make informed choices about where and will help ensure higher education equips the next generation of graduates for success.”
The event was hosted by the Chairman of the Board of Governors and Director and Chief Executive of the Science Museum Group, Ian Blatchford, who congratulated staff on the TEF success.
Vice-Chancellor Dominic Shellard also took the opportunity to thank staff for their hard work adding: “TEF is a massive watershed moment for all British universities and a real breakthrough moment for Æß²ÊÖ±²¥.”

Mike Mayes, De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) Vice President Media and Communications, said: “TEF is a sign that we are paying attention to the thing that matters the most to students; the quality of teaching.
“The fact that Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ managed to achieve the highest possible accreditation is a true reflection of my experience at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥.”
HR partner Wendy Hirst said: “It’s just fantastic for Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ to finally be recognised for the excellent teaching standards that we have and the award is due to the hard work of everybody who contributes to the experience our students have.”
