Professional Nurse Advocate

This module prepares Registered Nurses (RNs) to undertake the Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) role. The modules focus is on clinical supervision and leadership, which seek to promote quality improvements in clinical practice by enhancing staff wellbeing and career development in order to help build the resilience of the clinical team.

The PNA module will equip RNs with the knowledge and skills to facilitate a form of clinical supervision known as “restorative clinical supervision” to colleagues and teams. Evidence based attributes known to strengthen the restorative clinical supervision process are linked to a recognised model, the "A-EQUIP" model, which make up the course content. Module learning aims to advance students’ supervisory communication skills, self-awareness, proficiency in facilitating career conversations and ability to recognise stress in the workplace. There is also an emphasis placed on promoting compassionate leadership skills and leading service quality improvements.
