Transgender Day of Remembrance

20 November marks Transgender Day of Remembrance, which, each year, commemorates and memorialises those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobia and anti-transgender violence.

Increasing numbers of trans, gender-fluid and non-binary staff and students are choosing Æß²ÊÖ±²¥ because of our commitment to diversity and inclusivity and our LGBTQ+ inclusive policies such as our 'Policy on Support and Procedures for Trans, Gender Fluid and Non-Binary Staff and Students'.

This policy provides a clear statement of the support we provide, and the procedures staff should follow when supporting staff or students whose experienced gender is different from that assigned at birth.

At Æß²ÊÖ±²¥, we also have student societies and a staff LGBTQ+ and Allies network. This provides a forum and source of support for LGBTQ+ staff at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥, and allies who want to learn how to best support the LGBTQ+ people in their lives and how they can contribute to an inclusive culture at Æß²ÊÖ±²¥.

This year we have also pledged our support the Trans Rights are Human Rights Stonewall campaign, along with lots of organisations across the country.
